Community Support

Linden Lab's Community Development team has several people with academic backgrounds working full-time to support the use of Second Life for educational, academic and "serious" applications. Contact them directly with general questions about using the system, setting up islands, connecting with colleagues currently working in Second Life or contractors to help build projects. Find them in-world by clicking "Search" on the bottom button bar, then choose the "people" tab and type their name.

Campus:Second Life

Linden Lab has a special free offer for educators interested in trying out Second Life for the first time. You can learn all about it on the Campus:Second Life page!

Be sure to also visit our Campus region. This area is a main hub for classes participating in our Campus:Second Life program. You can meet students and educators currently working on class projects as well as find other real-life education projects happening in Second Life.

Second Life Educators working with Teens

Educators working with students ages 13-17 have different needs and requirements. We have started a wiki page Second Life: Educators Working with Teens to answer questions and offer possiblities.

EDTECH Island

EDTECH Island is a free resource for all educators. The island can be used or reserved to teach classes in the lodge, sandbox, or amphitheater. Learn more about SL teaching strategies in the Center for Virtual Educators. Join the EDTECH Community Group inworld for notices of events related to using SL for teaching. Contact BCreative Wilde inworld to schedule the island for use.
